I am gearing up for a big event. At the end of June (26th - 29th) I'll be having my very own booth at the Craft and Quilt Fair at the Melbourne Exhibition centre. (Jeff's shed). I went to the show as a guest on another booth last year and it prompted me to have a crack at it myself.

The Craft and Quilt fair is a retail fair, so for the first time in a very very long time I will be selling actual stuff.  It is a fairly hefty commitment in both time and money and I am kind of wondering what I have gotten myself in for but you know Morgan of the Crafty Squirrel ? Well, it was one of those "I'll do it if you do it" kind of conversations and Voila ! 

I'll be selling my patterns of course and also the beautiful Winterwood felt that I use for my toys. I am  thinking about some kits - but I am wary of ending up with a house full of unsold stuff, so I guess I am being a bit conservative. (says the woman who recently purchased 12,500 buttons). 

 I am thinking of shelves and backdrops and T-pins and velcro and orders and stickers and labels and signs and stripes and bobbins and all things all at once which sounds more stressful than it is actually is.
I'm thinking that even if the 'business'side of things is a flop, I'll meet heaps of crafty folk, I'll get to hang out with some awesome folks and I made some awesome social media signs for my booth ! It's a win already.

Saturday Night

I was at a thing recently and was introduced to a woman with great earrings.

In the course of the conversation she mentioned she had a blog. 

She told me she blogged about things that were current and things that were trending.

She used the word "leverage" a lot.

She  'works towards' brands.

She loathes personal blogs

She writes guest posts

She attends a lot of  really important events

She said blogging uses her voice in a stronger way than other social media

 She never blogs on Saturday nights, 

Cool people don't blog on Saturday nights.

The Red Carpet

In the fullness of time it happened that my workaholic ways were noticed and a holiday was ordered.

So that's how I now find myself the subject of a SHOWCASE !!!!

(Why yes I did organise a little bit of teaching during the aforementioned holiday).

Whilst the whole come and hear me talk and sign things makes me absolutely snort with laughter and look around to see if anyone has figured out what a doofus I am yet - I am totally looking forward to meeting Briony of Frangipani Fabrics for the first time, catching up with  longstanding blog friends and pulling off the great "craft time while on holiday"swindle.

You can come and do some foxy sewing with me on Friday or come and hang out on Thursday night . I'll be bringing some stuff to show you and might bring a few disasters-in-progress. I'll dust off the frock and bring her along as well.

I have to admit to being a bit incredulous when Briony first suggested the Thursday night thing.... I am seriously the most boring homebody in the world and I find it hard to imagine people want to come and listen to me talk about myself.... Unfortunately I've been hanging around online for so long that adopting a new and exciting persona, complete with awesome accent is out of the question so I guess it'll just be me, being me.
